David Bannister is a senior analyst on Aite Group’s Wholesale Banking & Payments team. He covers wholesale payments, transaction and corporate banking, financial market infrastructures, and analysis of the fintech sector.

Mr. Bannister has been writing about technology for 40 years, starting on Personal Computer World in 1979, and has specialized in financial services technology for nearly 30 years. He has contributed to Dealing With Technology, Waters magazine, Financial Markets IT, Financial News, The Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, and The Times as well as BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 News, BBC Newsnight, and Sky News.

Before becoming an analyst at the start of 2016, Mr. Bannister spent 12 years as the editor of Banking Technology, where he also became well-known as a moderator, panelist, and speaker, in which role he has taken part in many international conferences, including SWIFT’ Sibos, EBAday, Finextra’s NextGen Banking, and Finovate events in Europe and Asia.

Mr. Bannister has provided consultancy and training for leading IT and financial technology providers, including IBM, HP, Misys (now Finastra), Temenos, and many others.
